Phonofone II by Science+Sons
The Phonofone is constructed entirely from ceramic. Without the use of external power or batteries, the Phonofone inventively exploits the virtues of horn acoustics to boost the audio output of standard earphones to up to 55 decibles* (or roughly the maximum volume of laptop speakers)

My internship is pretty tops. I get to rifle through old art/design magazines in a lively manner, exchange witty quips with editors about our dirty knitting habits, and take three-hour lunch breaks before staggering into the office to hand out chocolate only to stagger back out at 4.30. Today I discovered a company had commissioned a really awesome competition to design some digital wallpaper. Look at the first-place entry! That’s a winning print if there ever were. Imagine my horror when I realised that the company has no intention of printing them out for commercial use: my dreams of a teapot-festooned room will have to wait. In the meantime I’ll sulk my way through back-copies of POL Oxygen (rest in peace) and laugh at my editor referring to Frankie Magazine as ‘that nanna-style rag’.
re-blogging this for several reasons, among them being that the first place design is amazing (how amazing would it look as real-life wallpaper?), as well as the frankie magazine comment, hahaha, so right on.
